Torsten Feys (UGent jg. 2003) werd in juni 2008 aan het European University Institute Firenze (IT) doctor in de geschiedenis met het proefschrift “A business approach to transatlantic migration: the introduction of steam-shipping on the North Atlantic and its impact on the European Exodus 1840-1914“.
Promotor was prof. dr. Heinz-Gerhard Haupt (Universität Bielefeld).
